Limp home mode working but not MJLJ

Post by TonyE »

I am busy installing the system on my MGB. It works fine at 10 degrees without the mjlj, which proves the vr sensor, the coil pack and the edis. When I connect the mjlj the engine just stays at 10 degrees. I have tested with the P.C and the mjlj works fine and is programmed ok and the map sensor works fine but as soon as it is refitted to the car nothing changes on the ignition advance.
I have check all the wiring, all is correct and there are no breaks and all seems ok, the only other thing I was thinking of trying was to swap over the wires for the Saw and Pip (although they are correct) will this damage the controller.
Has anyone else found the same problem.

Have checked the mjlj in real time and seems to be working ok just not affecting the advance, so figure it must be either on the output from the mjlj or the input to the edis or edis itself.
Anyone had a similar problem to point me in the right way.

Managed to get the saw signal working. If I had worn my glasses when I was building the board maybe I would not have created the short on the board. No damage done.
Just shows it pays to check and check again.

I had similar problem, Turned out to be UK sourced transistors (not from digi-key) that had 2 of the output pins swapped, became aparent when testing with a mulitmeter, against the schematic. You built the board your self, so might be worth a try if conponents were not from digi-key, the data sheet from the supplier should give the pin arrangement: bce, cbe, or ebc.

Just a thought.
Paul.
