Megajolt Laptop Problem

Post by coozer »

I originally messed around with my Megajolt with a desktop pc next to the car in the garage during the build.

Now I'm on the road I want to use my laptop but the Megajolt software wont start up. When I click the icon I get the start banner then this message:

mjljconfig.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are are sorry for the inconvenience.

I have V3 and V4 on the laptop but both have the same problem.

Any software guru's know whats causing the problem? Registry setting possibly?

Steve

Hi,

A few questions.

- What version of windows are you running?
- Does it work for you on a different computer?
- Did it ever work- but then stopped working after some settings were changed- i.e. com port, or some other setting?

Hi Brent,

Its a Windows XP laptop but my desktop pc in the garage is running the same XP and that works fine, just can't take out on the road with me!

The laptop has never worked, it always crashes on the opening banner, thats why I put my old PC in the garage.

Thanks,
Steve

do you happen to have any software installed on your laptops that maybe giving a false positive of the .exe as malicious?

if the windows firewall is on disable it and any other anti-virus/malware apps that maybe running then try running the configurator. maybe even uninstall and re-install with the above mentioned apps disabled.

There was a related issue solved by updating a display driver.

Try starting the system in 'safe mode' (this uses the default VGA driver) and running the application. If the problem goes away, try to update your display driver to the latest version.

Regards,
The lead regarding Display adapter driver was spot on. I am having trouble locating an update for this 5+ year old laptop. For now I have simply disabled the offending driver and back in business.

Thanks
