Using CIS-E flap position pot as MAP sensor input?

Post by brentp »

I have been running a lobotomized CIS-E system for the last year or so, but as the new 2.0 T4 motor is going together with the GT17, I feel a programmable ignition would be a Good Thing.

The CIS-E meter has a ~5K ohm pot for airflow flap position measurement, which directly correlates with load. (MAF based system)

Could this be used in leiu of the MAP sensor on an NA system?

(Obviously once the turbo goes on a MAP setup would be optimum)

Also, I keep reading about a 6K rev limit built into some EDIS setups.

Is this real or not? (CPS shielding issue?)

It's never come up, but it

It's never come up, but it sounds reasonable. It would connect in through the TPS option.

However, some would argue the flapper is a restriction in the system, and using the MAP sensor simplifies the system- and using a MAP sensor is perfectly acceptable for a NA engine. In your case, would it be feasible for you to go MAP sensor now?
