'88 SAAB turbo application?? (newbe)

Post by lance »

I am using the Bosch FI and Ignition from a '88 SAAB turbo on my Lancia 2L with a Volumex super charger.

It does a fairly good job but I am having to eliminate the dizzy due to a clearance problem.

With the bosch system , it uses the pickup in the dizzy to signal both the ignition and the FI system.

Can the EDIS and megajolt supply the required signal to fire the FI system if the stock dizzy/pickup are removed??

Second...if it will work should I use the TPS or Map sensor set up?

Third...will it work with a knock sensor??

I had looked in the Q&A history but most post were fairly old pertaining to this set up.

Thsnks!

Do you know how the dizzy

Post by Gilesy998 »

Do you know how the dizzy signals to the FI? If it's a simple 4-pulses per rev (or 4 shorts to earth), then it's fairly simple to get the megajolt or EDIS to do similar - we just need to know what the dizzy's output "does".

Tell us the model of Bosch FI, we might be able to look it up and tell you if it will work.

Preliminary thoughts say that it should be possible.

bosch LH2

Post by lance »

Sorry for the slow responce... things got busy here in the shop and I wanted to make sure what ECU had been used. It looks like it is the LH2 Jetronic unit from a '85 SAAB 900 turbo based on the part #. The part # on the ecu is 0 280 000 515. The LH2 uses a hot wire air mass meter instead of the vain type air flow meter.

dizzy info

Post by lance »

the dizzy has a magnetic pick up that does infact send 4 pulses per rev. It also send the tach signal for the gauge. Now that I have verified that it is a LH2 jettronic I can dig up a bit more info if needed.

Thanks-
