After being inturrupted with my MJ install (baby decided to arrive a few weeks too soon), I'm hoping I can get a few hours in this coming weekend....HOWEVER:
I've now checked for firing of the plugs by grounding them on the block.....and this all seems to work perfectly when I crank the engine....but, I still have no ignition whenthe plugs are in.....My guess at this point is there is something fundementally wrong with the timing, but I can't work out what I could have done wrong....I get no firing at all!...
What have I checked:
Toothed wheel - missing tooth is 90 degress before TDC - Check
Plugs sparking - Check
Questions:
Does it matter where the VR sensor is in relation to the wheel - by this I don't mean the distance, but the actual location (i.e. does it need to be 90 degs to TDC) - I didn't think so but can someone confirm.
The coil pack has 1, 2,3,4 ona a sticker - I assume this is the cylinder they need to be connected, and not the firing order?????.........
Any suggestions on where to go from here are most welcome - Thanks.
PAul.
More help please....

You might have your trigger wheel / sensor setup incorrectly.
Ford EDIS requires the VR sensor to be X degrees before the Missing tooth, when the engine is at TDC for cylinder #1. See the info here (there's an animated illustration which should help visualize this...)

In your case, X = 90 degrees.
For the coil pack- the labels are correct providing you didn't reverse the coil pack connectors on the EDIS module. Figuring this out correctly is easy for the EDIS-4, as you just have to flip the connections.
Let us know what you find out,

Many thanks......I missed this totally, and am sure this must be the problem.........I simply cut out the missing tooth 90 BTDC, and fitted the VR where I could, I did not realise position was important!....I feel like a right walley!......brentp wrote:You might have your trigger wheel / sensor setup incorrectly.

Anyway, It looks like all I need to do is tweek the toothed wheel to put it right as my engine is a 4 cylinder cllock wise rotation (ford CVH)............
Thanks again.

Can u move wheel stil ?
If u stil can rotate wheel
Put enjin @ TDC on cyl 1
Move wheel round until sensor 90 deg before missing tooth problem sorted
