im new need advice vauxhall engine!
hey guys i am building a 1.6 16v vauxhall engine at the moment on twin 40 webers, i am definatly thinking of using megajolt because it seems easy to use and parts readily available, anyway how would i work a tps sensor? could i fit one off anything else? what do most people do? or is a map sensor the best for twin carbs? any help atall is greatly appreciated.
Hi Alan, welcome!
With a twin carb setup both TPS and MAP are possible. We have a little FAQ that discusses the topic: http://www.autosportlabs.net/Choosing_b ... MAP_or_TPS
In some cases TPS is very easy to set if your throttle linkage can readily accommodate the Throttle Position Sensor, and yields good results. I'll let others comment on what works best for your engine. TPS is also best for very aggressive cams where a MAP reading will be unstable at idle.
A MAP sensor is generally considered more accurate since it offers a more precise measure of engine load. However, as shown in the FAQ, it takes more work to get a reading across all intake runners.
Here's an excellent and recent discussion on finding the optimum plenum size for taking a MAP sensor reading across individual runners:

Hi Alan
TPS is the way to go with twin 40's. Tried, tested and simple.
You can can get a TPS, in decreasing order of cost from:
- webcon - www.webcon.co.uk
- emerald - www.emeraldm3d.com
- Chris Good at www.trigger-wheels.com
- eBay
- a scrapyard
There's a great illustrated guide at http://www.cate1.co.uk/megajolt/installation.php for fitting a Mondeo TPS to twin 40's
Regards
Martin
