when i write the map ive made to the mjl and then switch maps and write the same map to the second option (via the switch in the car) it doesnt seem to remember them.

i see this because i use the 'get config' button (next to write config) but when i use that button, a different map loads up (i assume from the mjl).

to get around this, i have the switch in one position, then open up the map ive made and then write it to the mjl. then start the car and it works, timing changes as the rpm and load changes. but then if i swap to the other map it loads up, with a different map. even if i go back to the original switch position (map1) it shows me this alien map.

it doesnt appear to be saving the maps i write to it, even though it say it does.

any ideas?

it does idle smoother and run better though!

Before switching maps, you will need to commit the current map in the controller's RAM to the controller's flash memory. To do this, click the 'write flash' button after uploading your changes.

The analogy is 'saving a file' on your pc before editing a new one.

Once you have your two maps set up, you'll be able to switch between maps at will.

Brent you Star! thanks very much for your help, works perfectly now! i guess its obvious once you know how.

have i missed part of the website that tells you how to use your software? if there isnt such a part it might be something worth considering in the future as im sure im not the only one to be caught out like this. (no offence intended)

my capri now runs smoother (even on 10 degrees of advance (limp Home mode)) than it ever did. ive built a basic map but il have to tune it a bit before i upload it.

will get something up in the power by forum asap!

Thanks!

Glad you got it working. We are indeed working on an "operation guide" that will help people use & tune their new programmable ignition system.
