Triumph Spitfire Advice.

Hi All,

Im installing megajolt onto my Spitfire 1500.

Could anyone who has done this with there car post pics or explain of how they mounted the trigger wheel and how they mounted the crank sensor please?

Im still waiting for parts to come and am mulling things over in my mind but advice/pics etc would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I mounted my trigger wheel to the engine side of the crank pully on the flat surface. I had this braized on due to the problems with welding to cast iron, and then turned on a lathe to take any 'out of center' metal from the teeth. I used a 6.5" with 5.25" (i'm pretty sure but you'll have to double check) hole trigger wheel from trigger-Wheels.com.

I mounted the sensor with a very crude bent bracket and spacers. I drilled out a hole in the front engine plate to accomodate. I will be making a stronger better one in the future.

I'll try and dig some photo's out if i can find them.

You will be well suprised how much difference it'll make to the Spitty, it'll run much smoother and much more resposive.

Hi Ash,

I'm converting a Vitesse to wasted spark, I used a wheel from triggerwheels in Cambridgeshire. I have posted what has been done so far on the Club Triumph forum search "mk2vitesses" posts to see pictures.
I am having made some steel blocks to weld to the timing cover. Thses will form the fixing for an Alloy sensor mount.
They will straddle the centre rib on the timing cover, you will then need to drill the timing wheel in the right place!
I choose to put it there to keep it within the fan belt track, this will mean if the belt breaks it will not wipe out the sensor etc, it also makes changing the belt less hassle!
I have also seen the front pulley machined with the required teeth, this will save the purchase of a wheel!
I will give more details when they have been made, expected this week.
