What Trigger wheel for a 1600CVH

Post by javierant3 »

Hello , I am planning to mount Megajolt to my orion with 1.6 cvh engine. My engine is carburetted and because of that, I don`t have any marks on the flywheel for the TDC. I want to mount the trigger wheel on the crankshaft pulley, and my question is, Are there any other cvh engine that have the marks in the crankshaft pulley? or I have to fabricate my own trigger wheel?.

I have seen that 1.8 cvh mounted in the sierra have a trigger wheel on the crankshaft pulley and because of that, Can I use that crankshaft pulley directly in my engine for the TDC?

The engine will be running on twin weber 40 DCOE

hi, while i am not familiar with the engine in question, my first question is whether you really mean there is no tdc mark anywhere? if there isnt one, how do you currently set the ignition timing?

speaking generally, you certainly can put a trigger wheel on your crank pulley, but one way or another, you will have to determine exactly where TDC is.

My engine actually has ignition with a distributor.Because of that there isn`t any TDC mark. I want to eliminate that , and use a modern type of ignition. In my crankshaft pulley there is a mark marking the TDC for the camshaft timing, and that isn`t a problem.

Anybody is running a Ford CVH engine with Megajolt and can put any photo?

whether it has a distributor or a mjlj or anything else, you still have to have a timing mark to know where TDC is. the first thing to be done with the mjlj is to set the timing to 10deg BTDC with EDIS only running. that requires a timing mark. if there isnt one, perhaps it has been machined off by flywheel lightening perhaps? if there really is no mark, you will have to get the engine to TDC on no1 or 4 and make a mark.

Determining TDC isn`t a problem in my engine. Really, I want to know if there is any kit specifically for this engine for mounting a trigger wheel on the crankshaft pulley or I have to mount and adapt a universal trigger wheel.

Thank you for your help!. Finally I saw a kit in a shop for mounting the trigger wheel specifically for my engine that came with the wheel, mountings, and the TDC sensor. Ins`t cheap, but it`s a very good solution.
