Problems running firmware upgrade

Post by gt6boy »

Having only just got the mjlj set up on my car running and initially having commited to flash one custom map, my green pcb 2007 V3.0.0b4 was having what appeared to be software issues (beta version bugs?), so i thought it would be best to install the latest V.3.2.1 software/firmware.
I followed the instructions as shown on the hyper link http://www.autosportlabs.net/3.2.x/2.8. ... ade_guidek , but when I turn the engine ignition on(and hence the MJLJ), I get the 'Off-Key' message, instead of 'good'. See the attached screen grab below.

I am using a USB/serial converter, though not Belkin brand, was seen to work on the V3.0.0b4 set-up, before what I took to be the software problems became evident. The problems were the laptop frezing after 3-4 seconds when the engine was running, although during that 3-4 seconds, it correctly showed ign/rpm and load changes.

Hello,

Try using a computer with a built-in serial port to do the upgrade. If you need to, you can power the MJLJ on the bench with a fresh 9V battery.

Hi Brent. I bought a 9v battery and made up a lead in readyness to whip the unit out from the car to do the upgrade via the desktop pc.
Then I thought, what the heck- i've got a spare £10, lets try another serial converter lead.... Bob's your uncle- it worked :D The new lead and river did the trick an it was great fun fiddling with the car via the lap top. Thanks for the assistence none the less. :D
