YAMAHA R1 SETUP

I added a little note on the end of another post, but on reflection, I think I would do best to make a wider enquiry..
I am installing an Yamaha R1 2002 Carb engine in a Ginetta G15. The R1 engine is sparked by the usual twin coil/wasted spark arrangement with a crank speed trigger wheel to give timing. My questions are as follows:
1. Has anyone done this before, this would save me doing all the hard work (always one for the easy way out),
2. is the crank sensor a VR pickup? (it LOOKS like it)
3. If it is, how do I find out the voltage generated without running the engine?

I have the R1 carbs on a vauxhall c20xe engine running with the Ford EDIS system,the crank sensor is a magnetic type but i dont know the voltage .
