Megajolt configuration program question

Post by steve_c »

I have connected up the Megajolt controller in the vain hope that it may improve the timing 'scatter' with just the EDIS module. It hasn't, but the engine did run and the display echoed the engine revs. However the ignition map did not follow the revs. The map never got above the second column. The ignition advance cells changed with vacuum but the revs column did not follow the RPM display. It is set to 4 cylinders. Any clue as to what may be wrong? Not sure of software versions in PC and module but I'd have thought this was something fairly fundamental Im doing wrong(will check versions later).

As an aside, does anyone know what effect not having deep enough teth will have on the timing. Depth of mine about 4mm (see previous thread)

Can you look at the runtime data for rpm spikes? It sounds like a rattly VR sensor to me. It must be absolutely rigidly fixed.

Hi Steve,

Regarding the runtime columns, how high did you actually rev the engine?

I revved to between 3000 and 3500.

I'll try to check the VR signals when I get my 'scope back.

Where can I find details of the signal I should expect out of the VR sensor?

I have tried again today and the PC software seems to be behaving itself, so now I just need to finish the installation by bolting the box in and tidying the wiring.
