megajolt problem?
a friend of mine has a map megajolt setup on his mi16 205 peugeot with gsx-r carbs. we tryed several maps, and had a run without megajolt only on EDIS, car pulls absolutly the same, no diffrences felt... what could cause this problem?
Hello,
We recommend you attach a timing light to verify ignition advance is under control of the Megajolt. More information is here in our installation guide:

I made the wiring myself. Before I put it in the car I checked every wire for continuity connector to connector. The SAW output of the Megajolt fluctuates between 0.15 and 0.18V at the ECU out. Didn't check if the signal is getting to the EDIS connector and don't know how to check without removing the connector from the EDIS, in which case it would stop working... My guess is a faulty EDIS module?
The MJ software shows changes in advance but engine revs exactly the same with or without the MJ unit powered.
One more problem, I connect to the MJ unit, give it some revs and software freezes with "Ignition config 2 active", but there is absolutely nothing connected to the option switch input (not even a wire, so it's not the case of accidental grounding). Software only works at idle or up to 4000 rpm, after that it freezes with the above message.
Any ideas?
(car is mine in case you haven't figured out already )
Edit: Posted before I saw your reply. Before I start isolating the advance problem I need to sort my connection issues, any ideas? Have you seen this behavior before? I can't do any testing because the software freezes as soon as I give the engine some revs.

Are you using a USB-serial adapter? If so, some of them are sensitive to the HV ignition systems. you may try distancing it from the car using a serial extension cable.
It's also good to check all of your ground connections. Grounding everything in a 'star' configuration, where you use a common grounding point is a good idea as well.
Regards,

I have two ground connections for the whole loom, one in the dash and one in the engine bay but they share the same wire.
Is it only the software reporting a random error message when freezing or does the ECU really switch to the second ignition setup? Yes, I am using a USB-to Serial adapter I also use at work.
