Cable suppliers UK.

Post by parky1972 »

I am after a supplier of suitable screened cable for the CPS (VR) sensor and the PIP/SAW lines.
I've checked places like Maplin and either have missed it or haven't seen anything suitable.
RS sell something suitable, but I don't want to buy a 50m drum.

Could anyone recommend a supplier for the regular wiring too please?

Thanks,

Jason.

It's probably best to walk into the shop and you can get it per metre over the counter.

I still need the code though as I can't get to Maplin's. So the missus gets what I need. But she needs the code to hand over to the pleb behind the counter.

Something like these should be fine. I think the single core should be fine.

That's not thick enough is it? (Not a high enough AWG rating.)
The single core stuff works out more expensive than TriggerWheels. :(

I don't generally like to advertise and blow our own trumpet but in this case you should probably come to us ( www.trigger-wheels.com ).

Microphone cable is not designed for automotive use, typically it degrades in the presence of oil/fuel and doesn't get on well with hot underbonnet temperatures. The shielded, twin-core wire that we sell is rated to military standards for such things so you can be sure that it's not going to let you down. Oh and as has already been mentioned the "proper" wire from us costs less than microphone cable from maplins so it's a win all-round!

In a similar vein the hook-up wire that maplin sell isn't ideal. We can supply small or large bundles of multi-coloured PVC shielded thinwall wire - exactly the same stuff that you'll find in every modern since the motor manufacturers swapped over from old fashioned/rubber sheathing a couple of decades ago.

If you want a sample so that you can see how different it is from the Maplin stuff then drop me a line and we'll send a length out to you.
