questions about vr sensor...

Post by xdawgedawg »

i know all of you out there, knows what the vr sensor does...
but the problem i am having is the lenght of the vr sensor. by the time i finish mounting it to my engine, it will look like a bridge that spans over a river... (exaggerated)
so here is the question, can i use an abs sensor instead of the vr sensor??? (both basically does the same thing but the abs sensor is smaller)
or if there is any other vr sensor that is smaller (or half the lenght)?

thanks
eric

There are examples of people using other types of VR sensor on the forum if you keep digging about. Dean924 has not used a ford VR sensor and has used one out of a distributor if i'm correct. CHheck his posts out anyway.

I have heard you can cut down the original ford VR sensor but i have not done this myself and for the price of a second hand out of the scrappy is defo worth a try.

Basically you can have a play without the risk of doing any great damage to megajolt or the EDIS unit as the sensors only produce a small voltage and is only used for signal purposes so there is little current.

Thanks, I was talking to my co-worker, and he mumbled something about the differences in sensor is the sensor shape and probably the different type of magnet that is used...

I thought I read something about a vr sensor can produce high voltage? I wonder is that true?

Thanks again
