What are the thoughts of a launch control / traction control box that would provide the following features:
1. Programmable hard rev limit
2. Soft rev limiting upon detecting wheel spin
3. launch control assist (lower rev limit while clutch is depressed)
This would be compatible with many engines, ignition system types or ECUs. Wheel spin detection technique would need to be figured out. At first blush, this could be detected with two wheel ssensors or an algorithm that detects & suppresses 'unrealistically' fast engine acceleration.
Thoughts? would this be a cool device?

K.I.S.S. - You can achieve most of what you want (launch control) with a simple stepped/timed rev limit with no wheel speed sensors.
Technique A (nothing more than a button required): Hold a button to engage rev limit 1, release the button when the lights go green and it engages limit 2 for X seconds, after which it reverts to normal - rev limit 3
Technique B (add a clutch switch): Similar scheme to above but hold button for 3 seconds whilst clutch down to engage it, moves to limit 2 (low limit for 1st gear) when clutch comes up, next time clutch goes down engage limit 3 (normal rev limit for other gears).
Technique C: As above but when clutch is down (other than at launch) add another rev limit to allow full throttle gearshifts.
Technique D: In combination with any of the above use a simple T.delta(rpm), when the delta exceeds the preset limit engage a lower rev limit for a period to allow tyres to recover grip, then restore the normal rev limit.

Perfect! Thanks, Chris. These are techniques that could be easily experimented in the firmware. The T.delta(rpm) approach is what I was alluding to for the alternate, more passive approach not requiring wheel speed sensors.
