Hi,
I am planning to upgrade a shift light. The LEDs I intend to use are available in different sizes from 3 to 10mm. What size would you recommend? I tend to use 5mm, what do you think?
Regards,
Dominik.

The choice is completely yours, depending on how much space you have to fit on the dash. You don't even need several LED's. You could vary the brightness of the LED's as you get closer to the shift point.
The standard size I tend to use are 5/6mm LED's as they are a good managable and popular size and as you have found there are several ways to mount them.

You want relatively high intensity but over a decent sized area. Had you considered one of the LED clusters?
