Diodes for Tach Siganl

Hello All,

It seems I'm one of the guys who has to do the 2 1n4004's and a zener diode setup to bring my tach back to life. I know this has been addressed before, but not in detail.

I've seen the graphic that shows the diodes, but I'm still confused... Could someone "please" walk me through the procedure? I need detailed info to solder these diodes.

For instance, which way are the colored bands facing? What are the specs for the 1N4004 and Zener Diodes so I could buy them at Radio Shack, and where do they go? Etc...

Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated.
