Rover K series 1400 TPS on 33mm Bike carbs

As title

Aggressive map, used with MG TF cams and super unleaded. TPS is calibrated to suit unit fitted to bike carbs (Yamaha FZS 600)

Same set up as above but a tamer map used for daily driving and normal unleaded.

Why have you lower timing at high load / low rpm? Is there any reasons behind it?
Other question, you only ramp up timing at low load / high rpm with 1 or 2 degrees. Can't you add some more? I'm expecting to go from 32° at WOT to maybe 40-45° at low load.

I'm asking those question since I'll have to make also my own TPS map ;)

To avoid pre-ignition basically.

At small throttle openings, the actual compression ratio is low, due the throttle starving the engine. At such low compression, you need more advance to get good economy.

The wider the throttle, the more true compression goes up, bigger risk of pre-ignition.

not sure, we're talking about the same area on the map. I understand perfectly the need for more timing at low load ut not for high load at idle.

I've circled the area of concern to make things clearer. Is there any reason to do so? This is what I'm wondering :wink:
