Lap Time Accuracy

After learning that the lap timer was based on GPS, I got to thinking about how this affects accuracy. Wouldn't this mean that my lap time will only ever be accurate to 1/10 of a second? This doesn't affect me much, but I've been at tracks where 1/10 of a second is the difference between qualifying on pole and being several rows back.
