General questions

Post by neoraptor »

Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding RaceCapture Pro and its analysis software.
* Is it possible to plug a MCU on the board (RS232) to expand functionnality? What is the frame format required? Is it possible to plug more than one device (io expansion + dash)?
* How to retrieve data? Is-it possible through Wifi/BT/USB, as I don't want to open the bike each time?
* Could I measure lean angle directly? Is calibration required (the datalogger may not be on a flat surface?
* How to start a record? Is there an input available? Can I use magnetic beacon with splits?
* Is it possible to add a time channel in seconds absolute (instead of hhmmss.000)?
* How is the start logging configured? Through a LUA script?

Hi neoraptor! I can answer a few of your questions.

Data is recorded to a SD card or transmitted to race-capture.com if you purchase the real-time telemetry module. The SD card pops in and out easily. You can then load the data files onto your computer and analyze with RaceAnalyzer.

Recording is started by either pressing the record button on RaceCapture/Pro's front or via a few lines of Luascript that can start recording based on sensor inputs, timing or other custom factors.

Hi Ryan,
Thank you for your answer.

I plan to install the unit in my motorcycle and I would not like to open my bike each time to take the SD card.
That's why I need to know if I can retrieve the data from another way, either wireless (wifi/BT), or wired (USB).

Hi neoraptor,

We are offering options in the future to stream data stored on SD card over USB or Bluetooth. Currently you must remove the SD card in order to transfer the files.

Ok. Do you already have an ETA for this function?
I will record data the whole day and analyse it home, or open the bike during the pause.

Here are my other questions :
* Is it possible to plug a MCU on the board (RS232) to expand functionnality? What is the frame format required? Is it possible to plug more than one device (io expansion + dash)?
* Is it possible to add a time channel in seconds absolute (ss.000 instead of hhmmss.000, where 000 are milliseconds)?
* Can I use magnetic beacon with splits?
