External Accelerometer

I was just thinking the other day that in a future hardware revision, the accelerometer should be external. That way you can mount the data logger in a location suited for easy access, and mount the accelerometer close the center of gravity and in the correct orientation.

Thanks for the feedback. An alternative to that is enhanced software calibration, which lets you mount it in any orientation, and then you can 'tell' the system which way is forward, possibly by driving the car; then it could auto-calibrate based on the static readings. Good thoughts though!

Fun fact: we had the accelerometer outboard in an early version, but was moved inboard; now the can bus adapter is in an external module.
