Series Landrover

Post by rmaddock »

Hello there,

I'm very interested in trying this out on my LandRover and wondered if anybody out there has already done it?

Any pointers or advice?

We're talking a late series 3 2.25l (petrol, obviously).

It's a good, solid vehicle which is hobbled by the ridiculous device that is the distributor and I'd love this option to work well for me.

I'm in the U.K. ....... if that makes any difference.

Cheers!

Robert.

Should work great. Wanted to do a series for a while.

Actually since finding out that BMW 316 inlet manifolds fit had all sorts of ideas.

get in touch if you need any advice, as I am in UK as well

316 manifold?

Post by rmaddock »

316 manifold? Oooo. Would that, by any chance, be a convenient way of fuel injecting a LandRover lump?

I'm going to start looking for the bits for the MJLJ. Can't wait. I hate the feeling of getting the tuning spot on and then having it go out again a week later.

Yup

It is. Built an MS for someone in greece for this. If only the heads fitted as well. Very keen to see how a series takes to the conversion. If its anything like the xflows I've been doing you will amaze and astound everyone with the improvements.

Get in touch if you need any help sourcing parts. I keep or have access to all the bits and Brent has just sent me a nice xmas parcel of boards cases and processors.

Parts

Post by rmaddock »

Hi Bill,

I'm getting more keen on this idea by the minute. Even my wife hasn't said "no" yet.

How comprehensive a list of bits do you have - the connectors and things seem to cause a problem here? And how much would a set cost me if I got them from you?

With the timing ring, are there any factors to be considered in it's positioning such as proximity to other rotating parts? If I were to weld (glue, sew, blue-tac etc) one to the crank pulley would it need to be clear of the edge of the pulley? Am I making myself clear?

Probably not.

Pully location

Post by PioneerX »

Robert,

Just to answer your timing ring question. I have mine bolted to the fron of the crank pully on my Vx engine. The pully is actually the same size as the toothed wheel. This means that the edge of the pully is at thesame level as the top of the teeth, however even with the edge of the pully so close to the teeth it works fine. so I would say unless you pully is bigger than you timing wheel you shouldnt have a problem.

Regards

Simon
