Shift / rev limit LED's

Can anyone please assist?
I have wired in a simple set of LED's which work perfectly as shift lights - but I would like to add the extra function of getting them to flash when the soft rev limit is about to be hit

I think I have found a way of doing this - but need assistance in choosing a suitable relay and flasher circuit or perhaps there is a less mechanical way and more elegant way of achieving the same result
