I know of a complete megajolt system,using TPS instead of MAP,could i use this on my vw 16v twin carb setup.

well if you can mount the hardware i don't see why not
Mk1 golf has bog standard kettering coil ignition and carbs doesn't it.

if it has easy access to the pullys on the front of the motor and you can mount the VR sensor.
sounds like an ideal candidate

PS if the twin carbs conform to the standard weber IDF IDA DOCE or dellorto DRLA or DHLA style then there are throttle position sensors out there that will bolt right on and work ok
that covers twin choke solexes and mikuni as well
