I think your right about the electrical noise. My multimeter flashes random numbers from the passanger seat, even when its not connected to anything. I am using bosh leads that have between 5K and 9K resistance. (shortest to longest) Any reason for the EDIS system to be producing so much interferenc...

writing ignition files when engine is running
I am having problems writing to the ignition file while the engine is running. The configurator reports that the ignition file wrote but within a second the timing returns to its previous setting.( I can even here the engine speed change momentarily) If the engine is not running it writes fine. I do...

Working!
Finally got it working!
There is an updated driver for the PL-2303 on the Prolific website.
http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?id=31
It was released in April so any body still having Vista problems should be able to get it working now.

Vista and configurator software
I still cannot get the configurator software to work with vista. (it works fine on my XP desktop) There is no power in my garage so I need it on the laptop. It says it cannot open com port but the data log from my port sniffer says otherwise. Port opened by process "mjljConfig.exe" (PID: 5...

cannot connect using vista
I cannot connect to my MJLJnr V4 using any of the vista machines we have. I have proved my build is correct using an XP machine with the same serial adapter as I am using on the vista machines. If I use a telnet application on the vista machines, I get comms with the 's' and 'c' commands, but the co...

TPS on SU carbs
I think I will try going to a breakers, so I can measure some sensors.
I can not extend the spindel shaft because it will fowl the float bowl. (but there is 13mm to play with)
I ruled out a MAP sensor because I have a 290 degree cam.

TPS on SU carbs
Has anybody seen a TPS fitted to an SU carb?
I have twin HS4 SU's and there is only 13mm between the throttle spindle and the float bowl.
I have considered fitting it to the accelerator pedal but there is only 30 degrees of rotation. Will that be enough?
I can not use a MAP sensor because of the cam.
