Trigger Wheel & PIckup Install A-Series

Post by Phaeton »

Bought a toothed pulley & mounting bracket off ebay for the A-Series engine. Got round to fitting it today but concerned the pickup is too far away from the teeth, in hindsight I should have measured the gap, but for reference the nut is a 10mm

Any thoughts anyone?

Clearance needs to be around 1 mm, otherwise looks like a solid mount.

I would say that's miles too far away.

I set mine with a feeler gauge at 1/64 of an inch approx 0.5mm

Can it be mounted the otherside of the bracket ?

Thanks guys I thought that was the case, but the kit came with no instructions. There is a spacer plate but without it the pickup is too close. Maybe it isn't a spacer but an extra support & it goes the other side of the bracket & a washer will give the correct clearance. I'll try to have another go tomorrow night.

I would say its a clamp to spread the pressure of the bolt.

So it goes like the poor Paint picture attached

Knew I had seen that type of setup before somewhere.

So the 2nd diagram is correct. Here's a photo of the assembly

So its sensor/bracket/plate
The sensor can be spaced backwards with a washer if needed.

Thanks Ken

Spoke to the guy who produces these & you're exactly right, the bottom picture is how he described it, you use the washers to get the gap correct.
