Communications problem with V-3.0

Post by Phil »

I can't get this thing to communicate with my laptop.
Here is the info:
1) Megajolt Lite Jr. V3.0 bought and assembled + tested and configured with MAP sensor.
2) Installed into the car without bench testing it first.
3) Car is presently running on the basic map that came with the unit.
4) Unit works (tested with the timing light) and the timing advances accordingly with the rpm speed.
5) Tried 2 different serial cables but still no joy.
6) I am getting "unsupported controller version" error.
7) I am using a MJLJ Configurator V3.2.0
What is my next step?
Any ideas how to get this thing to (work) communicate?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Phil,

it seems the software can talk to the unit, but does not like the version of the firmware in your unit.

Try using an older version of the configuration software to see if you can establish communications:

It seems to work fine for me. Can anyone else download it successfully?

Any suggestions?

It is likely the dowload getting interrupted and you have a partial install file. If another user can verify this would be great.

Can you try from a different internet connection- like from work, or a friend's house ?

Tried it with my new laptop (hence why I need to re-install the program), my desk top and had our IT guy at work try it. No luck yet.
Next, I'll check with my neighbour (IT background ) and see if he has any luck.
Thanks for your prompt replies.

Update:
My neighbour got it to install on the first try.
Downloaded it onto my laptop and on a memory stick for future use.
Ps. If I order the latest unit, will it plug into the same connector?
Or, do i need to do any changes?

Brent, strange to see that I am registered longer then you!

Hi Phil,

Good you were able to install it. The V4 controller has a special serial cable, just order it with the cable and it will plug in the same way. Also, the V4 controller has it's own version of the software.

Regarding your account- I think you were registered under the old system, and when we migrated over to this forum software the account I created for myself was newer than my orignal account on the old system. :)
