I didn't have a convenient 9V battery lying around to power my MJLJ so I had hooked the power wires up to a transformer from an old cordless phone which said it outputted 9V. The LED came on nice and bright so I assumed it was working fine.

I was going to post it back tomorrow to Trigger Wheels (who have been extremely helpful, by the way) but thought I'd just test the voltage going in as my multimeter was handy. Well, it wasn't registering anything - don't know why but a few minutes work and a 9V battery later (which I had picked up over the weekend) - I'm connected with no problems over my USB/Serial connection.... :P :P :P

Wow, great news! Yes, you can't trust those adapters (need to verify voltage output with a meter) as not all of them are properly regulated.

I'm relieved things are working for you now. Truth was that I was getting a bit emotionally worked-up with the prospect that we shipped something broken! :)

Hopefully it might explain why some others have the same error - glad it was something simple so I can get playing tomorrow!

Indeed!

Would be great if you could post some pics of your car in the "Powered By" section so we can appreciate the work you're doing!

Hope things are smooth from here on out.

Will, do, Brent, but not at the moment as my wiring is in "prototype mode" (i.e. it looks dreadful - it's held together with screw terminal blocks)
