Coil pack

Post by S123fty »

Hi all.

I have a megajolt junior lite. I have wired the system up as per the diagrams I have but I cannot get a spark. The next step I'm going to try is swapping the vr polarity. I'm a bit confused as I have a 4 cylinder engine but the coil pack has 4 pin connection and not 3. Is one of these spare?

Running a vauxhall x16xe engine

Thanks

Did you figure it out by swapping the VR sensor?

You may have a dual coil pack with independent connections, where one of the connections wires to a common 12v power source, giving the effect of a single dual coil 3 terminal pack.

Vaxhaul coil pack is 4 wire.
12v, earth, coil 1 & coil 2.
Make sure these are wired correctly otherwise you won't get a spark.
Try connecting the earth and see what happens.

Failing that. Use a ford coil pack instead.

Jason.

Worth noting - if the coil pack has an explicit ground connection then it is likely an active coil pack with a built in transistor driver ("igniter"). You'll want to go to a standard coil pack, like the one provided by ford in the original EDIS systems.

Don't use any black aftermarket coils, no matter how well they are advertised. They burn out after couple of weeks/month, non-reliable junk.
I was advised to use Red MSD coil PN# 8241 instead.
The aluminum base does not come w/coil. It is a Millers Mule Machine part made specifically for Lotus 910 Engines. http://www.manta.com/c/mmn4g16/millers- ... and-design
