sources for 36-1 wheel
Hi, I got some EDIS 4 parts at the junkyard but I still need the toothed wheel. It's colder than the devil outside and the crank pulley is well-hidden on those FWD cars So I'm wondering, is there a secret to removing that part? or can I order one from somewhere and for what price? Thanks
Some junkyards will remove
Some junkyards will remove pulleys from bad engines to stock as individual parts. Ask for a crankshaft pulley from a 97-ish Ford Escort. (if you're in the States...)
The toothed wheel separates with some effort- blow-torch heat might help as well.

Most front scratters
most front scratters don't have the timing wheel on the front pulley, but instead the marks are in the flywheel and the sensor is mounted through the engine block.
If you are lucky, you might stumble across a Sierra 1.8 CVH... this has the timing wheel on the front pulley and it can be prised off with 2 open ended spanners...
failing that, look here: http://www.trigger-wheels.com/
I take it that you are UK based.

thanks for your help
I'm in the northeast USA (where the record-breaking warm weather has unfortunately subsided). I checked with the parts recycler and they didn't sell crank pulleys so I went and looked at Ford Escorts in the yard again. I found that the crank pulley bolt (19mm) is accessible from the wheel well after removing a plastic cover. So I located a 5-speed Escort, put it in gear, put a monkey wrench in each front wheel, and then I could loosen the bolt and remove the pulley.

IIRC they are also available
IIRC they are also available from any Ford dealer for ~$35 US.
What are the part numbers
What are the part numbers for those wheels?
