if someone could make an idiot guide for it, that would be awesome.

It dos not appear a failed processor is the problem here. As you'll see at the beginning of the thread, the MJLJ is working on the old firmware; we are simply trying to perform the upgrade using the hc08sprg.exe firmware loader.

As previously suggested, at this point it would be best to take it out of the car, put it on the bench and power it with a fresh 9V battery- and ideally upgrade it with a computer that has a standard serial port.

The first thing on the bench before attempting the upgrade, you should perform a basic test, verifying the MJLJ is communicating with the old 3.0.0 configuration software- as it does while installed in your auto.

im back atlast but i just havent had the time to test anything with the megajolt. since i was last on here i have taken my car off the road a brought myself a run around. after xmas i will be lookin to sort it all out once and for all. however im not a mechnic and would have alot of difficulty doing this myself.
is there anyone on here who would be able to come to mine and re-fit, test and map my megajolt? for a cost obviously...

i live near Salisbury (SP1). Please PM me if your interested in doing this.

thanks
paul

bear in mind the internet is a window on the whole big wide world, some people have no idea where Salisbury (SP1) is!

best advice is to take it slowly, and make sure things work before you go to the next stage.

Hi Paul,

What is the status of your troubleshooting and what works/does not't work? Did you perform the steps I suggested in my previous post? As before, I don't think you have a failed processor based on the information gathered from the thread.

Let us know !

P.S. I would love to come visit and help directly.. but time and money doesn't match with that reality. :) Ah well. If you're willing to work with us through this little pipe, we're standing by ready to help!

Thanks,

sorry been away for a while.
rite i have the megajolt out and on a bench with a 9v battery next to it, i tryed ur precedures and the upgrade still wont work. its got 3.0.0 firmware on it and i can write a config to it but cant get get map from ecu to the software if u c wat i mean?
also it keeps sayin runtime data timeout, i assume thats coz there is no sensors coming off it at the moment?
anyway what else can i try to get this upgrade done, this is the only thing stopping getting my car bk on the road and i really dont want to ave to go out and buy and new one e.g. omex
thanks again
