Storing the TPS calibration?

Brent,

I've just done the TPS calibration for my new carbs - it was a very easy process, but it left me with a puzzle. Where are the settings stored?

I saved the settings to a file when the calibration was complete, but I had expected to have to save them to the MJ unit's memory too, as I thought that it would also want to know the settings!

I had performed the following steps:

1. Plugged in the cable, switched on the laptop and started the config software (which correctly reported that it couldn't get a connection with the MJ unit).
2. Switched on the ignition, and the current table was loaded (correct behaviour).
3. Chose the 'calibrate TPS' option, did the 'closed throttle', 'open throttle' bit and saved the results.

At this point the 'write to MJ' options were disabled.

Should I have been able to write to the MJ, or is it handled a different way?

Or have I simply misunderstood what's going on?

"write to MJ" option- do you mean the small toolbar icon on the main screen that you normally use to write the ignition config? If that's what you mean, the Load Axis Calibration (and global config options) routine is managed separately from the regular ignition config, in it's own dialog.

P.S. have you switched away from Win98 or did you find a solution for your problem? I still haven't been able to install win98 for testing!

I was wondering how the info about the range of the TPS gets into the MJ's processor - presumably it needs to know what's min and max so that it can calculate its timing.

And I didn't get any further with Win98 - I finally decided to get a new battery for an antique laptop that has Win2K on it. as it's tatty and of little value I don't mind having it rattle around on the passenger seat of my car!

In a nutshell, the load axis calibration process is a separate mechanism for reading / writing the segment of flash memory that originally stored the MAP sensor calibration table. As a result, it's been re-purposed as a general purpose calibration table for the load axis.
