So far, so good...

Post by h4887 »

I've just got my 1380 A+ running successfully on the EDIS4, but with the timing at 8 deg instead of 10. Am I right in thinking V3 doesn't have the trigger offset facility (if so I can't find it!) so I will need to edit the whole map to compensate? It's noticeable how steady the timing is compared with the distributor which always has quite a bit of flicker at tickover. Now I just need to sort out that vacuum connection...

That's correct- for now, V3 you have fixed base timing. That will change with the upcoming V3 firmware, where you can configure the offset in a similar way to V4. (see the "future upgrade" forums for news on when that will be available)

However, with only 2 degrees to compensate, you might be able to bend or slot the holes for your sensor. It might be worth considering!

or not bother! ;)

I think that the single most noticeable thing when I first put EDIS on mine was the stability of the timing. On my old V8 the advance at idle was bouncing around within a 15deg range :o and the tickover was a rough as a badger's Rse ;)

Now the advance is rock-solid and the tickover is smooo-o-o-oth :)

Thank you Brent for providing MEGAJOLT :D :D :D

My Midas is now running nicely on MJ. However my initial joy on seeing the rev counter working soon evaporated when I realised it was lagging up to about 3000rpm after which it subsided to zero. That's using the MJ tach out connection. Has anyone managed to get a standard Metro rev counter working properly?

Try driving the tacho from the PIP signal going from EDIS to MJLJ - this often solves exactly the problem you are seeing.

Just "T" into the existing EDIS->MJLJ wiring.....

Report back if it works!

Thanks, Martin, I've got it running from the PIP signal now and it seems OK, at least it goes over 3000. Of course I don't know how accurate it was originally, probably not very...
