another vista problem

hi i have got a megajolt version 4 set up on a mini and i am trying to get it working on vista 32bit with a maplin serial to usb i have tryed it on my mates xp netbook and it works fine

but after i configure the com port to which ever one i am using i still get the same message "cylinder count timeout" is there anything else i should do on vista to get it working

Benno,
Your problem is most likely the software for the USB to serial adaptor. These are almost notorious for this type of trouble. Search the archive of this forum to find the results of others battle with this issue. I dodged this trouble because my laptop has a serial port. I hope someone else can chime in with more help for you.

thanks for the reply i have installed the driver would it still be wrong if it installed succesfully?
