I use the zener/diode circuit and it works fine for my TIM guage. If i remember correctly the diodes and zener have polarity and only work one way?

Im not sure weather its needed or not but i mounted mine on a piece of alloy thats slightly larger than the module and spaced the alloy plate away from the inner wing where its mounted so pretty simple anyway.

I can only save a new configuration using the 0.2.2.1260 tuner, all others cause problems with error messages saying it cant read certain values. I am using the serial adaptor in the following link.

Thanks Brent glad to hear that,i too have them heat shrinked in line with the coil wires, it runs my rev counter very nicely.

I have just made up the diode circuit (2x 1n4004 and 15v zener) to run my rev counter and wondered if the components will be ok in heat shrink? thanks for that mate will try swapping wires round. just spotted a post which includes all voltage readings of a working set up so should be able to sort it if i dont have any success.
